How to secure a speaker slot at Bett

How to secure a speaker slotThe Bett exhibition is awash with decision makers seeking inspiration in education technology. But, with more than 600 annual exhibitors vying for their attention, it’s well worth giving serious consideration as to how you can best engage with the maximum number of potential customers.

One way of upping the ante is to present a talk, giving you the opportunity to highlight the benefits of your service or product in a personable and informative way.  Bett has five theatres, open to all attendees, for this very purpose. However, as you might imagine, securing a slot can be easier said than done. Demand far outstrips supply, so the organisers can afford to be choosy about who they let loose on the stage.

To help you be in with the best chance of getting picked, we’ve put together a special pdf on ‘How to secure a speaking opportunity at Bett’. This outlines some of the techniques that have helped us place our clients in front of a captive audience time and time again.

Our top five tips include:

  1. Ask an existing customer to speak on your behalf – but make sure you choose the right one
  2. Be newsworthy or fill a gap in knowledge
  3. Be different. Bett is about innovation, after all.
  4. Draft a winning synopsis. Our tips will guide you through the process.
  5. Submit your synopsis on time – you’d be surprised how many miss the deadline!

It’s my job to look strategically at our clients’ goals for their brand and then apply my knowledge of PR, the media and online communities to make sure that we deliver. The part of my job that I enjoy most is being able to provide a fresh perspective for our clients – and uncovering the best way to raise the profile of their brand. I also love keeping up to date with the ever changing nature of PR.

Before setting up the business, I worked both in-house and agency-side doing PR in the education and telecoms sectors. I split my time between France and the UK and so I can often be found at airports smuggling cheddar cheese into the land of camembert.
